Saucer Dodge

Saucer Dodge: A Step-by-Step Guide

Saucer Dodge is a classic playground game that’s easy to learn and tons of fun! Here’s how to play:

1. Gather Your Players:

  • Ideally, you’ll have at least 3 players.

2. Choose a “It” Player:

  • This can be done through a simple game like “Eeny, meeny, miney, moe” or by having players count off.

3. Designate a Playing Area:

  • Choose a relatively open space, such as a playground, backyard, or field.
  • Establish clear boundaries for the playing area.

4. Determine “Home Base”:

  • Select a designated spot within the playing area where players can safely “tag” or “touch” to be “safe.”

5. Start the Game:

  • The “It” player stands in the center of the playing area.
  • The other players scatter throughout the playing area.

6. Gameplay:

  • The “It” player attempts to “tag” or “touch” the other players.
  • If a player is tagged, they become “frozen” and must remain still in the spot where they were tagged.
  • Other players can “unfreeze” a frozen player by crawling under their legs.

7. Reaching Home Base:

  • Players can avoid being tagged by running, jumping, and dodging the “It” player.
  • The goal is to reach “Home Base” without being tagged.

8. Changing “It”:

  • When a player is successfully tagged, they become the new “It” player.

9. Game Variations:

  • “Freeze Tag”: Players who are tagged must remain frozen until the end of the game.
  • “Red Light, Green Light”: In this version, the “It” player calls out “Red Light!” (players must freeze) and “Green Light!” (players can move).
  • “Giants, Wizards, and Elves”: Players can “freeze” other players by shouting “Giant!” (stand tall), “Wizard!” (point a finger), or “Elf!” (crouch down).

Tips for Playing:

  • Communicate with your friends to coordinate your movements and help each other.
  • Use the environment to your advantage – dodge behind trees, jump over obstacles, and run in zigzags.
  • Have fun and be creative!

Saucer Dodge is a simple yet exciting game that promotes physical activity, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Enjoy!
